Location To Be Announced

2007 SC District Rangers of the Year

You can begin preparing for the 2007-2008 Ranger of the Year by downloading the new requirements for your boys at the links below. Contact Tracy Chavis if you have any questions.

What Uniform Do I Wear?

Q.    If a boy moves from Discovery Rangers to Adventure Rangers in September, and goes to ROY testing, does he wear the Discovery Rangers name tag or the Adventure Rangers name tag on his uniform?

A.    It will not matter if he has an Adventure Rangers or Discovery Rangers name tag.  The points should be based on if the group tag is properly positioned on the uniform.  We would not require a boy to change the group tag for uniform evaluations at a ROTY event and then change it back for his outpost events.

Q.    What about moving from Ranger Kids to Discovery Rangers.  Does he wear the Ranger Kids uniform or Discovery Rangers?

A.    Here he should be evaluated with a Ranger Kids uniform not a Discovery Rangers uniform.  Even though the same maximum points are used for both uniforms the base those points on different criteria.  Awards/patches placement, belts, shoes, and pants will not be based on the same grading criteria.

Ranger of the Year Qualification Chart

There are two ways for qualifying to participate in the ROTY evaluations.

CATEGORY A:

If a boy has earned both the required number of points on his ROTY application and achieved the advancement level stated in the ROTY chart, he will automatically qualify to participate at that level (section or district). There is no limit on the number of boys that can qualify to participate in the ROTY. Once a boy has entered the ROTY evaluations, he can continue to advance to the next level as long as he achieves an Outstanding level (85% or higher) in his evaluation.

CATEGORY B:

OUTPOST: In the event that an outpost does not have a minimum of two boys from each Royal Rangers group who qualify as per Category A, they may send the appropriate number of boys from each group with the highest application scores to the sectional evaluation. These boys will be evaluated and receive recognition for Excellent or Outstanding levels, depending on their evaluation score. All boys who achieve an Outstanding level at section or district are qualified to continue to the next level of evaluation.

SECTION & DISTRICT: In the event that a section or district does not have a minimum of two boys from each Royal Rangers group who qualify as per Category A, they may send the appropriate number of boys with the highest evaluation scores to the next level of evaluation. These boys will be evaluated at the next level and receive recognition for Excellent or Outstanding levels, depending on their evaluation score. All boys who achieve an Outstanding level at section or district are qualified to continue to the next level of evaluation.
